Tour Details

Follow in the footsteps of the world famous legend of King Arthur, learn the story of Camelot, Guinevere and Excalibur while immersing yourself in the rugged, mysterious natural beauty of this part of Cornwall.

Tintagel

This historical village, steeped in legend and mystery will be the starting point for our journey. We can visit the excellent local visitor centre with it’s factual displays on the history of Tintagel. Moving on to King Arthur’s Great Halls, the only intact building in the world dedicated to the legend of King Arthur, we will be told the story of King Arthur through a short presentation and move onto the Great Hall complete with stained glass windows and discover more about the symbolism and ideals of the Arthurian tradition.

We can then visit and explore the ruins of Tintagel Castle itself or I can take you to a cliff top where we can view the ruins from a short distance away from the crowds.

Boscastle

A visit to Boscastle and it’s Museum of Magic and Witchcraft is recommended. A short walk along the picturesque river towards the harbour adds to the magical feeling this very special village evokes.

Bodmin Moor

From Boscastle we will travel up to wild Bodmin Moor and seek out Dozmary Pool, the legendary place where Sir Bedivere threw Excalibur following the death of King Arthur. An arm rose from the surface of the lake, caught the sword and sank below the waters.

Roche Rock

Our final location will be to the mysterious Roche Rock, a striking rocky pinnacle of tourmalinised granite with the ruins of an early fifteenth century chapel perched on top. A place of mystery and legend.

We can stop for lunch half way through the day at a venue to suit your taste and budget. There are many excellent venues in and around this area to choose from.
